A New Chapter

After a couple years (maybe three?) of not posting anything, I've decided to revive my academic blog and make it more of a habitual thing. As an aspiring academic I've been told countless times that writing is the key to success, as it's the basic element of communication. Writing academic papers for example, is the currency of success and without a passion for writing I don't see how any of the ideas that I have in my head will ever be known to the world. Also, starting my new position at ETS, where publishing new research has become even more challenging due to the internal review system, I feel that I have to work even more diligently to get my word out there. That's why in addition to this blog, I'm going to start my own personal diary system where I vent about my life outside of academia (technically I'm no longer in academic but a pseudo-academic industry position). This blog will be reserved for my thoughts about my career path, statistical topics that I have become interested in, as well as new research ideas that I spontaneously think about (which I unintentionally end up forgetting about entirely three months down the line). This coincides with the new Keyboard Dock to my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer which will allow me to CREATE content rather than just digest it. I think making writing a key part of my lifestyle will enhance my role as a true academic (if that is what I truly think is the path for me, perhaps the heavens may not agree). I am hoping for more to come, in addition to changing my mission statement, my goal is to eventually have more useful content that I can not only spur up more research ideas, but also use it as a vessel to disseminate what I've learned to others (whoever is actually reading this blog).
